Silver round signet ring inset. Roman. Dalmatius. c. 330 - 337 A.D. 9 mm. ex: HJB Inset of bust of a young Dalmatius with inscription DALMATIVS. Flavius Julius Dalmatius (also known as Dalmatius) was the nephew of Constantine the Great. Named consel in 333 and Caesar two years later, He was assassinated in 337 following Constantine's death. This piece is plausibly linked directly to his two year reign, probably from an administrator with ability to act on behalf of the Caesar. A very important signet inset from the time of Constantine the Great!
